Still, my way of thinking moved in the opposite direction. I stay close, I repeat, I reduce, I subtract until I find an essential, irreducible line to rebuild from. Something that can hold an imaginary. Like getting to know a place by walking it over and over, each time under slightly different emotional conditions. Until every detail becomes usable, every flaw becomes familiar.
People are part of this process, especially when they bring personal ways of seeing, perspectives that contrast but also intersect, expanding the field without losing precision.
Everything starts from a thought, from a personal intention to find a measurable detail in the choices that lead to the final image.
I like everything to be personal. Intentional. Controlled. Balanced. Experimenting with the unfamiliar means of letting go your own rules — but those rules need to exist first, in order to be left behind.
I find essentiality seductive because it creates an empty space for thought, a space where I can add what speaks to me.
